Cinquain

I have just discovered this poetic form, which I find quite interesting as I love playing with words. The form appears at first to be quite simple, but is in fact quite challenging; at least I think so…

The form:-

The modern cinquain is based on a word count of words of a certain type.

line 1 – one word (noun) a title or name of the subject
line 2 – two words (adjectives) describing the title
line 3 – three words (verbs) describing an action related to the title
line 4 – four words describing a feeling about the titlem, a complete sentence
line 5 – one word referring back to the title of the poem

My first attempt:-

Conservation
Pickled, protected
Maintain, varnish, repair
Re-learn lost working methods
Embalming

A little challenge for you would be to send me your attempts and the ten best get posted…

send them to bondbloke at googlemail dot com

What a good idea! You’ve made a good attempt and I’ll see if I can come up with anything myself. Interesting challenge.
